Abbie Rippon (Actor/YT Tutor)

Abbie graduated from Bretton Hall College, University of Leeds in 2003 with a BA Hons in Theatre Acting.

Her degree studies focused on classical theatre, modern and postmodernism alongside text work, directing, devising and performance. Production credits at Bretton Hall include a Witch in Macbeth, Carmen in Genet’s The Balcony, Devised pieces including Eyes Down and A Tomb of Painted Faces, devised from Bryony Lavery’s More Light, also the self written Great Fish and Little Fish – a one woman platform performance. Directing credits include Peter Shaffer’s Black Comedy.

Since graduating Abbie has become one of the Off the Ground team, teaching the youth theatre and taking part in other school and theatre workshops and collaborating with other theatres such as the Chester Gateway and Theatre Clwyd. She also had a short stint as a backing singer for a Robbie Williams tribute band, but the less said about that the better.

As well as working with the young people of the North West and Wales, Abbie has enjoyed four consecutive years touring with Off the Ground on their annual summer tour.

She has taken the role of Hermia in A Midsummer Nights Dream, Mrs Otter and the Washer Woman in Swing in the Willows, and Jims Mum, not to mention the terrifying lady pirate Max Blood inTreasure Island and Olivia in Twelfth Night.

Other theatre credits include Helena in A Midsummer Nights Dream, Hypermenestra in Alkestis, Ludovica in The Caucasian Chalk Circle, The Ghost of Christmas Present in A Christmas Carol and Peg Sliderscew in Nicholas Nickelby.
