Dan Meigh (Artistic Director)

After studying Chinese and Russian at Durham University and the People's University of China Dan made the obvious leap into working in theatre. He was one of the founding members of Off the Ground and has worked as director, actor and youth theatre tutor for the company.

His is now the artistic and youth theatre director.

Directing credits for Off the Ground include Look Back in Anger, Twelfth Night, Hamlet, The Three Musketeers, Educating Rita, Romeo & Juliet, Dirty Underwear, The Arthur Siphid Phondoo Experiunce, A Legend of King Arthur, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Swing in the Willows, Treasure Island and The Caucasian Chalk Circle. Dan also works as a principal tutor and choreographer for the youth theatre, and has directed many of their recent productions.

In 2000 Dan began to develop Off the Ground’s extensive education programme. The company now runs a variety of educational activities including school Shakespeare tours, GCSE and A-level tuition, and residencies with youth and community groups, designing and delivering workshop programmes for and with, amongst others, the Chester Gateway Theatre, Clwyd Theatr Cymru, Livepool JMU, The Harrogate Theatre, Dramart Productions, Dangerous Communications, Wirral Lifelong Learning, Cheshire Drama Service and various LEAs.

Dan had a brief spell as a stand-up comedian and an even briefer spell as the front-man of a band. It transpired that neither of these things were good career moves.
