The Merry Wives of Windsor
NW England, N Wales & Ireland
Sir John Falstaff is flirting with two married women for financial gain. He sends identical love letters to Mistress Ford and Mistress Page and ends up being double-crossed by the ladies and their husbands. After a farcical rampage including disguises, lies, dirty ditches and hobgoblins, Falstaff finally gets his comical comeuppance.
This bawdy comedy is getting the full Off the Ground treatment and is set in the disco cool of the seventies. The Garter Inn where much of the action takes place is full of funky tunes and memorable characters.
“Off the Ground Theatre’s Merry Wives of Windsor was one of their best shows to date and, without a doubt, one of the most fun things you can legally do in a field. The strength in depth of this cast was what really made the show stand out. It’s a strange sight watching 200 people, from toddlers to senior citizens, dance in a field. I wouldn’t have missed it for the world.”

What to wear to open air theatre?
The best way to know what to wear to an open air theatre performance is to check on what the weather is doing, but always play it safe. If you can carry a coat in case things turn sour, then we’d always recommend doing so. Beyond that, wear anything you like to an open air theatre performance, though please ensure you wear something!
