SHOW TITLE

Accidental Death of an Anarchist

YEAR

2024

PERFORMED

The Hope Street Theatre, Hope Street, Liverpool, UK

DESCRIPTION

Based on the 1969 Piazza Fontana bombing in Milan, and subsequent death of a man in custody, the play follows a quick-witted and tricky fellow, known only as ‘The Maniac’, as they manipulate, confuse and outwit the local police force through a variety of sinister yet hilarious disguises, tricks and misdirections. It is a play that is as starkly appropriate to the misdemeanours and malpractice of today’s police as it was in the 1970s, taking aim at incompetency and idiocy.

"Fo’s cleverly written play is more than competently handled by this bright and exciting company who delightfully wring every bit of comedy and drama from it, entertaining hilariously on one level whilst carefully taking us on a journey of questioning not only what we are presented with but how and why...the company are to be applauded for not only being brave enough to bring this insightful and witty play back to much deserved life, but to deliver it in such an engaging and comic manner."*****

What to wear to open air theatre?

The best way to know what to wear to an open air theatre performance is to check on what the weather is doing, but always play it safe. If you can carry a coat in case things turn sour, then we’d always recommend doing so. Beyond that, wear anything you like to an open air theatre performance, though please ensure you wear something!
