22 Hope St, Liverpool L1 9BY, UK

DESCRIPTION

Carl Jackson is a young man from Blackpool who feels trapped by the small-town expectations
around him. Longing for something bigger, he joins the army, searching for purpose, escape, and a
sense of belonging. But when he finds himself in the midst of modern warfare, the reality of
combat and its consequences prove far from the glory he imagined.

“At the heart of this tremendous new production … is a hugely powerful performance from Jim Kelly as Carl. Kelly’s is a tour de force tour of duty as the human explosive device waiting to detonate…He is also the fulcrum around which there are a series of very good performances from other members of the six-strong cast…Britannia Waves the Rules is one of the most powerful plays you'll see on a Liverpool stage this year.” *****
Arts City Liverpool

“(OTG) …are to be commended for showcasing theatre at its best with this powerful and thought-provoking production – it’s what theatre in Liverpool used to be about and thankfully independent companies like Off The Ground Theatre continue to carry that baton.” *****
NorthWest End UK

Do you have questions regarding Off the Ground theatre productions?

What to wear to open air theatre?

The best way to know what to wear to an open air theatre performance is to check on what the weather is doing, but always play it safe. If you can carry a coat in case things turn sour, then we’d always recommend doing so. Beyond that, wear anything you like to an open air theatre performance, though please ensure you wear something!
